Summary of the Hotel Market Day 2021

This year's Hotel Market Day was held 23 November 2021. The theme was "The big follow-up" where we, with the help of world-leading experts, discussed trends before and after Covid-19 from four dimensions - the world, cities, the hotel market and hotel products. During the day, we also honored Pandox's former CEO Anders Nissen.

"Pandox crisis management in three steps"

Liia Nõu spoke about when Pandox in March 2020 went from all-time-high to all-time-low within the course of 19 days. She is proud of how Pandox managed the worst storm and described how Pandox handled the crisis in three steps: Respond, Restart, Reinvent.

"The crisis is a fantastic opportunity for positive change"

Ian Goldin, Professor of Globalization and Development at the University of Oxford recently published a new book called "Rescue: From Global Crisis to a Better World". At the Hotel Market Day, he spoke about how the world can become both better and more sustainable in the coming years and decades. He is hesitant about the expression "Business as usual" as it implies going back to a behavior that put us in this spot from the beginning.

"What will the cities of the future look like?"

Leo Johnson, Partner and Disruption Lead at PwC UK joined via link London to talk about how technological developments will affect cities and the people who live in them.

"Are we seeing an upcoming labor crisis?"

Andreas Scriven, Head of Hospitality & Leisure at Deloitte, spoke about economic changes in the hospitality and hotel industry. He shared several valuable insights, mainly based on data from Deloitte's surveys in the hospitality industry.

"Six future trends that will affect the hotel market"

Chris Sanderson and Kathryn Bishop work at The Future Laboratory, one of the world's most renowned futures consulting companies. The theme of their presentation was future trends that will affect the hospitality industry in different ways.

Panel discussion: what have we learned?

The day ended with a panel discussion. The participants were Liia Nõu, CEO of Pandox, Ruslan Husry, CEO and founder of HR Group, and Robin Rossmann, Managing Director STR International about their respective lessons from the pandemic.
